Chelsea Handler Talks 50 Cent, Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie

In a new Glamour article, the comedian opens up to Katie Couric about her personal life and her celebrity friends and foes.

What a year Chelsea Handler has had. Her E! talk show "Chelsea Lately" is a late-night staple, she hosted the VMAs back in September and she has even become a headlining-making princess on the gossip sites. In the new issue of Glamour, the funny lady opens to Katie Couric up about her big year and the people she spent it with.

The comedian has been spotted on and off with 50 Cent, sparking dating rumors. Both Handler and Fif have always denied that there's anything romantic happening between them, and in the magazine she once again insists that no hanky-panky is going on.

"We're thinking of doing a movie together, so we were talking about that," she explains of her relationship with 50 Cent. "But he's really cute, and I have to be honest, there's a good chance that I will hook up with a rapper at some point."

Handler sparked new headlines this week when, during a stand-up gig, she dissed Angelina Jolie. If you're wondering why the comic has such an attitude toward the screen siren, it may help to know that Handler is friends with Jennifer Aniston.

"Jennifer Aniston makes me laugh. She sends me really, really funny e-mails. She's hilarious and irreverent," Handler says of her gal pal, while adding about Jolie, "I'm not a fan. She just doesn't come off to me as a sincere woman. She seems like a woman that you'd really want to avoid."

So if talking smack about Hollywood stars is allowed, is anything off-limits in her comedy? Well, yes.

"I think talking about children and their looks is not nice," she explains. "And I don't talk about people who are dying."

The top concert tours of 2010

Bon Jovi grossed $201 million to become the top concert tour in 2010, according to data released by Pollstar today. The band played 51 shows in North America and 80 shows worldwide this year. Apparently rock n? roll still has its grip on the world, as AC/DC took the No. 2 spot with 40 shows [...]

Beyoncé arrives at her "I Am ... World Tour" DVD screening on Sunday
Photo: Jemal Countess/Getty Images

Jay-Z is letting fans into his world with two major releases this month. He just published his book, "Decoded," in which he takes a closer look at his career, and on Monday (November 22), Hova is releasing a greatest-hits album, The Hits Collection, Volume 1.

The album features Jay's most memorable tunes, including "Big Pimpin'," "Hard Knock Life," "99 Problems" and his collabo with his superstar wife, Beyoncé, "03' Bonnie & Clyde."

But when MTV News caught up with Bey Sunday at a New York screening for her DVD concert special, "I Am ... World Tour," she admitted that "Bonnie & Clyde" isn't her favorite Jay-Z track.

"God, that's not my favorite, even though I like it," she laughed. "I can't tell you which one is my favorite. It's just too many. You're putting me on the spot!"

While the pair may be releasing fresh products at the same time, the singer insists there is no competition in the Carter-Knowles household.

"No absolutely not, [there is no competition]," she told reporters at the DVD event, going on to praise "Decoded." "That book is unbelievable, and I think we're all really proud of it. And this DVD [out this] Thanksgiving — it's the holiday season of everyone's [material] coming out."

The DVD shows a new, more intimate side of the usually private Beyoncé, and Jay-Z admits that his book also sheds new light on his persona and career. "A lot of people listen to music, but they don't really listen to it," he explained. "You may know the words and you may bop your head to it, but you don't really understand what you're singing."

Open the floodgates! It's Mega-Release Week, with Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, Ke$ha, My Chemical Romance and Lloyd Banks all dropping new albums. Stick with MTV News for everything you need to know about the brand-new music.

Avril Lavigne 'Excited' That Rihanna Sampled Her Song

'She's a really great singer, so yeah I was excited,' Lavigne says of Rihanna sampling 'I'm With You' for 'Cheers (Drink to That).'
By James Dinh

During "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" special, Avril Lavigne will unveil her brand-new single "What the Hell." However, before she debuts any new music, fans can listen to the Canadian singer's signature yodel from her 2002 hit "I'm With You" on Rihanna's new drinking anthem, "Cheers (Drink to That)."

In a Q&A session with Entertainment Weekly, Lavigne spoke about the celebratory party track, admitting that the Barbadian songstress has some great vocal chops.

"It was really exciting because 'I'm With You' is one of my favorite songs that I've done, I always love performing it," the punky popster admitted. "And I think Rihanna's awesome, she has great songs, she's a really great singer, so yeah I was excited. I think it's really cool."

When MTV News spoke to Rihanna about "Cheers (Drink to That)" in November, the red-headed star told us that the cut is one of her favorites off her latest release, Loud. "I love that song," she gushed. "That is one of my favorite songs on the album. It makes you feel like celebrating. It gives you a great feeling inside like you want to go out and have a drink. ... People can't wait for the weekend."

When asked why the she didn't just ask Lavigne to come into the studio to re-record the song's signature yodel, Rihanna explained, "I asked the same thing, but when I heard the track, it was already embedded in the music, so the producers already had it that way."

As for Avril's own celebratory music, the 26-year-old singer/songwriter described her new single as "more pop and uptempo and kind of reminiscent of my old stuff." The songstress also confessed that her next album, Goodbye Lullaby — due in stores March 8 — will be "more stripped and raw and a little deeper."

What do you think of the Avril-sampled "Cheers (Drink to That)"? Share your reviews in the comments.

Kanye West's 'Power' Video Is Unlike 'Anything,' Jason Derulo Says

'Those videos are very interesting, actually,' VMA-nominated singer says of West's and Eminem's latest clips.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Audrey Kim

Jason Derulo
Photo: MTV News

Last week, Kanye West and Eminem released two equally powerful, albeit very different, music videos, for their singles "Power" and "Love the Way You Lie," respectively. And while Eminem relied on some heavyweight cameos from Megan Fox, Rihanna and Dominic Monaghan to tell his story, West relied on artistic visuals, created with the help of director Marco Brambilla, for what he described as a "painting."

"Those videos are very interesting, actually," "In My Head" singer and VMA nominee Jason Derulo told MTV News on Sunday at the Teen Choice Awards. "I watched the Kanye video and I thought that was very different to anything I've ever seen before. It's not actually a video. It's almost like a moving painting. I thought that was really cool."

Derulo's feelings on West's "Power" mirrored that of something the rapper himself tweeted last week when the video premiered: "IT'S NOT A VIDEO . . . IT'S A PAINTING!!!

So, with West's video acting as a visual mind trip, what did Derulo think of Em's darker, more cinematic video starring two of Hollywood's most recognizable faces and one of pop's most unique voices? Well, the ladies stood out the most for him. "I thought Rihanna looked great in the 'Lie' video," he praised. "Megan Fox looked awesome too. Eminem always does it."

Which video left more of a mark on you, Kanye's or Eminem's? Tell us in the comments!

Kanye West, Swizz Beatz And More Top Producers Of 2010

Bink! and Clark Kent also hold it down by finding key samples, in Mixtape Daily.
By Jayson Rodriguez, with additional reporting by Hillary Crosley, Rahman Dukes, Steven Roberts and Richard Sancho

This is Mixtape Daily, so you know the deal: We spotlight the essence of street culture. And when it comes to those behind the boards, it gets no truer than producers who know how to dig in the crates and find a dusty sample that will inject life into a new composition.

These four guys reached deep down, far and wide, to the nether regions of their musical minds to create bangers that became the soundtrack of the past 12 months. Without further ado, we close out our year-end awards by saluting the Top Producers of 2010:

Bink!
Wax Lift: Smokey Robinson's "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?"
Street Symphony: Kanye West's "Devil in a New Dress"

Originally, this one (co-produced by Mike Dean) dropped as part of 'Ye's G.O.O.D. Friday series, and West picked apart Bink!'s loop of the Motown star's stirring vocals to add his own twist. "Hood phenomenon, the LeBron of rhyme," he spit. "Hard to be humble when you stunning on a JumboTron/ I'm looking at her like, 'This what you really wanted, huh?/ Why we arguing anyway? Oh, I forgot, it's summertime.' "

Clark Kent
Wax Lift: Enchantment's "Silly Love Long"
Street Symphony: Rick Ross' "Super High"

Praises to Barry White and his "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little Bit More, Baby," but it's not that sample that raised this stirring Rick Ross track to sublime heights. Rather, it's the way Kent (and co-producers the Remedy) flip Enchantment's "Silly Love Long" that takes this one up a notch. "We shining when it's pitch dark, yeah this bitch a movie, but this time I play a big part," Ross muscles through the beat with his flow. "F--- marketing, look at what I'm accomplishing/ I'm beating n---as by margins bigger than Fran Tarkenton."

Swizz Beatz
Wax Lift: Justice's "D.A.N.C.E." remix
Street Symphony: Jay-Z's "On to the Next One"

While most producers speed up samples, Swizz took the road less traveled and slowed down this driving dance tune into a military-march tempo. The result was Hov's mantra for his next decade of dominance and MTV News' #8 Song of 2010. "Baby, I'm a boss, I don't know what they do," Jay spit. "I don't get dropped, I drop the label."

Kanye West
Wax Lift: Backyard Heavies' "Expo 83"
Street Symphony: "Runaway"

Rick James might be the signature sample on this one, but it's the drum loop from the Backyard Heavies where 'Ye (and co-producers Emile, Mike Dean and Jeff Bhaskar) set their sail for this number to rise to one of the year's best tracks. "See, I could have me a good girl and still be addicted to them hood rats," Yeezy rhymes. "And I just blame everything on you/ At least you know that's what I'm good at."

Nicole Richie Completes Probation Early

The reality-TV personality had been put on probation in 2006 after a DUI incident in Los Angeles.

Nicole Richie has officially completed her probation in connection with a 2006 DUI case, TMZ reports. Richie was put on probation that year in connection with DUI charges she received after being pulled over while driving the wrong way on a Los Angeles freeway.

Richie's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, went to court Wednesday morning (December 29) to present the judge with proof that her client had completed the terms of her probation. The verification included a report from the alcohol-education program that the reality-TV star had been attending for the last 18 months. Richie was supposed to end her probation in February 2011, but the judge agreed to terminate it early after ruling that all the terms had been sufficiently completed.

Earlier this month, Richie and her longtime beau, Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, finally tied the knot after dating for four years and having two kids together. The wedding took place in California at the home of Nicole's dad, Lionel Richie. An array of stars helped the couple celebrate the nuptials, including No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani, celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson and Madden's twin and Good Charlotte bandmate, Benji. Reverend Run presided over the ceremony. The couple have a 1-year-old son, Sparrow, and an almost-3-year-old daughter, Harlow.

The pair made headlines last February when they announced their engagement. Richie broke the news during an appearance on "The Late Show With David Letterman," while Madden took to Twitter to let the world know.

In October 2009, Richie opened up about being a parent. "I couldn't be happier," Richie explained to People. "The only thing you want is for your kids to be healthy and happy, and they are. I'm right where I belong."

Drake In 'Tip-Top Shape' For Take Care, Boi-1da Says

'Lyrically, he's gotten better,' producer tells Vibe magazine.
By James Dinh

Drake
Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage

Drake wasn't kidding when he said he'd been "compiling some great raps" for his new album, Take Care — just ask the project's collaborator/producer Boi-1da. In a recent interview with Vibe magazine, the hip-hop hitmaker — who worked heavily on Drizzy's Thank Me Later and Keri Hilson's recent effort — spoke about how impressed he was with the Toronto MC's lyrical flow on the sophomore effort.

"Man, 2011 is going to be a good year for music," Boi-1da told Vibe. "Drake's in tip-top shape, and what's amazed me is that lyrically, he's gotten better. He was already an outstanding lyricist, but now I'm just in anticipation of what people are going to think when they hear his new music."

The producer also revealed he gave Lil Wayne some beats for the rapper's next project, Tha Carter IV.

Boi-1da said Drake is trying to prove his credibility as a rapper more than as an R&B vocalist, saying the MC's bars speak for themselves. "I know a lot of people had criticized him for singing," the producer acknowledged, "but I think he's just coming back to show people why they fell in love with him, like, 'Did you forget about me?' And it's really coming out in his raps. It's something I can't even really explain."

Based on recent interviews, it seems as if the Toronto star is focused on making his sophomore effort much more than your average album.

"Take Care is its own mission," he said during an appearance on Shade 45's morning show. "I'm really going back to the So Far Gone where, first of all, as much as the label and people are fighting me, I'm not doing 14 songs, 'cause it doesn't give me enough. I want to do interludes, transitions and different moments. I have an overabundance. I've never had this many raps."

Kanye And Gaga?! Readers React To Our Man And Woman Of The Year

Kanye West vs. Eminem, Lady Gaga vs. Britney Spears: Our readers duke it out over whether our picks for 2010's top man and woman were worthy.
By James Montgomery

Kanye West
Photo: D. Dipasupil/Getty Images

Last week, when MTV News revealed our picks for Man of the Year (Kanye West) and Woman of the Year (Lady Gaga), we expected that there would be some folks out there who wouldn't agree with our choices ... mostly, Eminem fans — because, as we've learned time and time again, they don't agree with anything.

But there's no way we could have predicted just how many people were genuinely outraged with our list ... MTV.com readers flooded our site with comments, calling us every name in the book, accusing us of vast multinational conspiracies, and doing everything short of declaring war on our headquarters (please don't attack on a Wednesday, that's Taco Day in the cafeteria). We're only slightly exaggerating.

(They're more than just pretty faces, but you can still check out photos of our Men and Women of 2010!)

By far, the biggest point of contention centered on our Man of the Year list ... and, more specifically, why we gave the award to West instead of Eminem. Fans of both men lit up the comments with passionate arguments, with each side working overtime to state their case. It got pretty nasty, which sort of made it even better.

Over on the Woman of the Year list, well, most people seemed to agree that Gaga deserved the honor, though, of course, there were still some out there who believed that Britney Spears was robbed — even though she didn't release a note of music this year. Her fans are just that loyal.

To be honest, we were sort of blown away by just how many of you cared, so we've decided to collect some of the best responses here. But don't think the debate has to end right now ... if you still feel like your voice hasn't been heard, sound off in the comments below. And now, without further ado, let's get acrimonious.

"Eminem [had] two #1 singles both with sales over 3 million! [He was] iTunes' Artist of the Year, Billboard's Best Male and Best Album ... best-selling single in the UK, VMA Best Male and Best Hip Hop, EMA Best Hip Hop artist, MTV's #1 Hottest MC of 2010 ... opened at VMA and BET awards, Recovery already sold 3 million and still counting copies in less than 6 months (I pray Kanye makes it up to 1 million by God's grace), 10 Grammy nominations ... Eminem had a bigger year and MTV knows that!" — Kennethngbor

"Kanye had a bigger year? Yeah he did. 10/10 from Pitchfork? Yeah. 'Runaway' movie? Yeah. G.O.O.D. Fridays (new song every week)? Yeah. Most critically acclaimed album this year? Yeah. Sold over 430,000 copies without a NUMBER ONE single and being the MOST HATED man in America? yeahh. Need I continue? Em's album wasn't all that. Hell, Teflon Don was better than Recovery. ... 'Ye had a better album, [and] a better year." — Alex

"I think [Kanye] deserved to win. Of course Em sold more records, Hello? America's white-boy rapper? Duh! I mean, he's cool, don't get me wrong ... Em puts out a good CD when he tries, but Kanye killed it ... So to hell with what people say, I'm good with 'Ye winning man of the year." — Hsoj

"I feel that MTV and Kanye have a plot together to make each other bigger. They hyped the you-know-what out of him before he even dropped his latest album. Suddenly he has been back for a couple of months after he took some time off to seek help and he becomes Man of the Year? Come on. Everytime he does something outlandish it's on MTV, so I'm starting to wonder if he and the network are working together to help each other gain publicity. Shady business if you ask me." — JayJay

"MTV, accept the many mistakes you made this year in many of your lists and make a better one next year and stop underrating people! #1 for Kanye is not deserved, he does not deserve to be in the top 5! Usher is supposed to be on this list, Bieber and Eminem are supposed to be higher!" — Emperor

"Kanye deserved this, denying it makes you look stupid because over this entire year, he's the one that brought music (especially hip hop) forward. I LOVE EMINEM, I couldn't be more serious about that, but at the end of the day, Kanye brought music forward as opposed to Em getting back to the level of quality we are used to getting from him. Em's still the sh--, but this year, Kanye made a better product." — Ryan

"Kanye West just put out one of the best acclaimed hip-hop albums of the last 7 years ... he created a masterpiece in the movie 'Runaway' and stretched the boundaries with the moving painting piece for 'Power'. Kanye West did more this year to move [forward] the culture, especially the hip-hop culture than Em did by far. If you make the best album you should be the man that year, simple as that." — ThisGuyCalledJeff

"I'm happy for Kanye, and people should be happy for him too for giving out all that free music and putting out a classic album instead of hating! And I'm pretty sure Eminem is not thinking about this list, because he's making bread off that 3 mill sold, so let's let Kanye shine for a moment please!" — TommyBoy502ky

"I'm tired of MTV giving Gaga too much praise! I can't wait for Britney Spears to release her new album in March! Gaga did not revive pop music. She is good but she is not better than the pop stars who came before her like Britney, Christina, and Madonna ... When Britney came out, she revived pop music! When Gaga came out, she didn't revive nothing. Now Britney will be back with a new album and she will be on top." — IfUSeekPeanut:)

"Okay, let me explain to you why Britney is not better than anybody, she is not an icon, she won't be a legend, she used her physical looks to call people's attention, she is auto-tuned, and she doesn't sing live! Gaga is talented and better than Britney, in so many levels ... she writes her own music, and plays the piano, the problem is that Britney has a longer career, but Gaga will have it too in 10 years; yes she is crazy, and yes she is a freak, but that's what makes her special and unique, Britney these days is just another pop star; the fact that she's been relevant for a decade doesn't mean she is a legend, and Lady Gaga is definitely the icon of this generation." — EMMNL

"I seriously don't care what anyone could possibly say, I love Lady Gaga with all my heart and nothing anyone says will ever change that. I've honestly heard it all, and it only makes my love for her stronger. Can't wait for Born This Way. I'll be the first one to buy it in Canada." — Christian

"There was no other choice [for Woman of the Year]. [Gaga's] carried pop music the past two years. Without her Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj would not exist. She's single-handedly brought dance music from the basement to the Penthouse." — frankru2000

Joe Budden Says Thought Of Slaughterhouse/ Eminem Deal Is 'Scary'

'It's scary to even fathom being on a record with Eminem or Royce or Crook or Joell,' MC tells Sway on 'RapFix Live.'

New Jersey-bred rapper Joe Budden's acclaimed Mood Muzik series and the Slaughterhouse project have earned him a rep for his lyrical skills. But in spite of his credentials, Budden said lining up next to esteemed MCs is a nerve-racking experience.

When pressed about his group Slaughterhouse (Budden, Royce Da 5'9", Crooked I and Joell Ortiz) potentially signing a deal with Eminem, Budden explained how daunting that thought is for him.

"It's scary to even fathom being on a record with Eminem or Royce or Crook or Joell," he told Sway during his appearance on "RapFix Live." "Just four guys who, when they wanna [black out they can]."

He compared the theoretical lineup to a real experience he had on his recently released Mood Muzik 4: A Turn 4 the Worst.

The track "Remember the Titans" featured Lloyd Banks, Fabolous and Royce. They announced the lineup prior to recording and releasing the song online. Fans had plenty of comments, and one in particular caused Royce to have one of those moments Budden fears.

"I've rapped with Fab a bunch of times," Budden said. "It was my first time getting with [Lloyd Banks]. And I always rap with Royce, so I just kind of know. But a bunch of fans said something that really ticked Royce off, like, 'You don't belong on that song.' And they seemed to think it was pretty funny. In my head, I'm like, 'Oh my god, Why are you making this incredible, incredible MC angry, to where now [he has] a point to prove?' So, Royce goes on there and tore that beat apart just like I knew he would. But that whole thing is scary to me."

Usher's 'OMG' Gets Celeb Endorsement As Song Of The Year

'It's undeniable,' Travie McCoy says of the track that topped MTV News' Top 25 Songs of 2010.

2010 had some great jams, and all week, MTV News has been counting down some of its best. Everything from Lady Gaga's "Telephone" and Rick Ross' "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)" to two of Kanye's West's killer My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy tracks, "Power" and "Runaway," made the top 10. But it was Usher's bombastic party jam "OMG" that rose to the top and came in at #1.

So what made that song such a party anthem? "Oh my God! That's exactly what I would say! Oh my God!" Pauly D joked about 2010's top party jam. "Dope, dope track. I love playing it. The crowd goes crazy when I play it. Usher's the man!"

Travie McCoy added: "It's a great song. It's undeniable, you know what I mean?"

"Dancing With the Stars" pro Lacey Schwimmer admitted that "OMG" was the track that got dancers, both professional and amateur, on the dance floor. "You guys got a great dance anthem," she said. "So be prepared for people who do not know how to dance just going to town!"

Producer Alex Da Kid gave props to will.i.am for the song's epic beat. "I love 'OMG.' I think it's definitely something different for Usher," he said. "And it still has all the dance performance elements Usher's known for, but it's something slightly different and done in a will.i.am kind of way, and it's different and that's why it connected to so many different people. It's a great song."

Celebrities also weighed in on their favorite jams of 2010, choosing everything from Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" and Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" to B.o.B and Hayley Williams' "Airplanes."

Why did you love "OMG" in 2010? Tell us in the comments!

Jay-Z Amuses, Entertains In 'Charlie Rose' Interview

Hov discusses his formative years in an episode of the PBS chat show that premiered Wednesday.
By Jayson Rodriguez

If ever Jay-Z really decided to retire from the rap game, the witty MC should consider taking his talents to the talk-show circuit.

On an episode of PBS' "Charlie Rose" that premiered Wednesday, the Brooklyn icon chatted it up with the veteran journalist, and once again Jay-Z drew laughter with his wry jokes and entertained with his engaging conversation.

The program was taped at the Brooklyn Museum last month, when Jay-Z was in full promotional mode for his "Decoded" book.

When Rose brought up the rapper's age, the host prefaced his inquiry by pointing out that most men raised in Jay-Z's Marcy Projects houses in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood didn't make it to 41.

"My first album didn't come out 'til I was 26, so for so long I ignored that talent," Jay explained. "It took a bit of luck. The people I was with daily — a personal friend of mine went to jail for 12 years. And me and him would be together every single day. So I know that same fate was awaiting me. We would have got picked up the same day. If I wasn't pursuing music I would have been in jail for 12 years."

As it turned out, The Blueprint 3 superstar was influenced by music from an early age, despite it taking some time before he would turn his passion into his profession.

"We'd play music in the house, we'd clean up the house," he said of his childhood. "The house would smell like Pinesol. Windows open, drapes blowing, music playing. I was just enjoying the sounds — Prince, Michael Jackson, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder. I think my mom may have had the first rap record ever, [by] King James III."

When Rose pressed the rapper about his relationship with his father, who abandoned Hov while he was still young, the host offered that at least the patriarch of the family left Jay the gift of music.

"He didn't leave it to me, no," Jay corrected him. "There was never that conversation. I think it went like, 'Get out and leave the records.' "

His comments drew laughs from the audience and Jay chuckled himself, then added, "I can't say for sure. I wasn't there."

'In My Head' Director Braved Blizzard To Shoot Jason Derulo Video

'You'll probably have to direct this video by Skype,' Kai Crawford recalls being told about Justin Timberlake-inspired Best Male Video nominee.
By Jayson Rodriguez

Jason Derülo turns up the heat in his steamy video for "In My Head," but the mercury was plummeting when production on the upstart singer's visual was slated to begin. With temperatures on the East Coast falling, L.A.-bound director Kai Crawford nearly had to oversee the clip via satellite as snow blanketed New York City.

Not the way he planned on handling the video, which has been nominated for Best Male Video at this year's VMAs. (Derülo is also up for Best New Artist.)

"It was like the coldest day of the year, it seemed like," Crawford explained to MTV News. "It's funny. I traveled from New York and I got snowed in, 'cause it was a blizzard, like, four or five days before Christmas, which for me, was two days before the shoot. I got snowed in. The [video's] commissioner got so scared, she told me, 'You'll probably have to direct this video by Skype.' "

Crawford's flight to Los Angeles was postponed and the airport in New York was just about shut down. But the director made the trip to JFK International Airport anyway in the hopes of catching a flight. His determination was rewarded when after a few hours Delta Airlines re-opened and Crawford was able to book another flight. With his old ticket refunded, the director bought a new ticket ASAP and headed to California.

Crawford and Derülo then sought to create an homage to Justin Timberlake's Diane Martel-helmed clip for "Like I Love You." According to Crawford, the concept of Derülo's clip was the "party after the party" in the parking lot. With the Miami singer's moves and his crooning, they were able to accomplish that goal.

The only problem?

"It was like the coldest day in L.A.," Crawford recalled, laughing.

The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The party starts with MTV News' VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through Sunday.

Lloyd Banks Weighs In On Game's Attempted Reunion With 50 Cent

'I can't honestly take that situation seriously,' G-Unit MC tells 'RapFix Live.'
By Paul Cantor, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Lloyd Banks
Photo: MTV News

Lloyd Banks joined Sway on Thursday for his second visit to "RapFix Live," and during their chat, Banks was asked by a fan about 50 Cent's upcoming album.

"It only takes one record to build a masterpiece," Banks said. "When I heard 'What Up Gangsta,' I knew it was enough to build [50 Cent's first LP, Get Rich or Die Tryin'] around that. We come from the same vein. You know most of it's gonna be aggressive, and then the creative flow gonna come out on different times, different records. I just got off the phone with him before I got here. And he was like, 'It only takes one record. I think I made it last night.' I'm excited to hear it."

Banks was also asked about Game's recent attempts to reconnect with 50 Cent. The Compton MC had been tweeting incessantly at 50 Cent earlier in the day, trying to get Fif to reply.

Game tweeted, "@50cent All it take is "ONE PHONE CALL" ! U call me, I call BUCK, tell Banks holla at Yayo & dat puts HIP HOP @ OUR MERCY ! #UknowUcdisN---A."

50 Cent tweeted back, "what are you guys talking about i dont talk to game i have had no communication whit him in years."

Banks dismissed any chance of a reunion, saying the strategy behind G-Unit's sudden re-emergence has little to do with the crew itself, but more so the individual moves of the artists in the camp. In that respect, there would be no reason to reunite with Game, because he's not doing enough on his own.

"I can't honestly take that situation seriously," Banks said. "This time coming around, it was more about us as individual artists building up our brand to eventually come together to form the monster they know as G-Unit the crew. Not to form the crew G-Unit to better our career as solo artists. We did that dance already. 50's first album led into the G-Unit album, which led into my album. Now it's time to pay 50 back. It's time for me to make it easy on him. Not go to 50 to make it easy on us."

Jeremih And 50 Cent 'Keep It Real Sexy' In 'Down On Me' Video

'We got a lot of sexy ladies, kept it classy,' the 'Birthday Sex' singer tells MTV News on video set.
By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Matt Elias

When Jeremih returned with his sophomore effort All About You, the "Birthday Sex" singer wanted the set to feel familiar to fans and echo the notes he struck on his debut. Now, for his latest single "Down on Me," Jeremih wants the video to match the song's sultry feel.

"The song itself is definitely for the clubs. We wanted to keep it real sexy for the ladies," he told MTV News. "As an artist, there's nothing like hearing your record in the club. The visual, we wanted to make sure when you see the video in the club, it portrays that message. So we got a lot of sexy ladies, kept it classy. ... It's going down."

50 Cent lends his vocals to the track, and the G-Unit boss reiterated Jeremih's claims.

"It's a pleasure to hear great music after you finished in the studio," he explained. "Then you use your imagination and wonder how people are gonna embrace it.

"Me, I got a different approach," the rapper continued. "I'll be like, 'Ah, man, when n---as hear this, they gonna be sick. I'm back, baby!' "

"Down on Me" is Jeremih's second single from All About You, following the slow-burning "I Like." The new song received a boost from 50 spoofing the track during an appearance on Chelsea Hander's late-night show; the rapper appeared with YouTube star Keenan Cahill and lampooned the song in a bit that became a viral hit.

What do you think about Jeremih's new song? Let us know in the comments!

T.I. Thanks Fans For Supporting No Mercy

'I love hearing your opinions on what songs you like most for the next singles,' incarcerated MC tells fans in message on his website.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

T.I. may be locked up, but he's still keeping tabs on his fans.

In a message posted on the ATL MC's website Wednesday (December 15), Tip thanked followers for the #4 debut of his latest effort, No Mercy, and added that he's taking fan opinion into account when choosing upcoming singles from the project.

"What up world? First off I'd like to thank everybody again for going out and supporting the 'Hustle' yet again with No Mercy last week. I can't say enough on how much I appreciate the support and all the positive feedback. I read so many tweets, letters, reviews and comments that spoke volumes to how much love was still out there and how much respect still exists for my art and my passion. I put so much of myself into what I do," he said. "I even read over the negative comments cuz' that's the kind of energy I feed off of to adjust, evolve and improve my craft until it manifests into the closest thing to perfection on the next go-round. I love hearing your opinions on what songs you like most for the next singles. We are taking all of them into consideration as we decide right now on which direction to head in."

Tip also urged followers to stay positive despite his time behind bars and sent out some cheery holiday greetings.

"I know this seems like an unfortunate set of circumstances to endure for a career with so much potential but remember adversity builds character and character takes you places money can't. I know what's in store for me in the future so I ain't trippin' and neither should you," he said. "For now all my love and best wishes to you and yours for the holidays. Y'all hold it down out there and I'll do the same in here. And continue to spread the word about No Mercy & Team T.I."

The upbeat missive comes around the same time that longtime T.I. crony DJ Drama said the "Get Back Up" spitter might have been disappointed in his first-week sales because he wasn't physically on the scene.

"Tip is the type of guy that, I'm sure, no matter how high it debuted, he might feel disappointed, because he's not here, [and he might] feel like he could have done better," Drama told MTV News. The mixtape king also added that he feels the drama surrounding Mercy may be a turning point in a career plagued by run-ins with the law — a sentiment that T.I. has also echoed.

"If it does whatever numbers it does, with him being here, it might have done double that. I think this [release] is the toughest one for him. I been a part of his career for the last 10 years, and I seen him in and out of legal problems. But I think this one is a little bit different. Hopefully, this one is the most life-changing one for him," he said. "I listened to the album, and I watched it being made, and it's some quality work. You know, at the end of the day, it's about the music. And he still comes with that music."

What do you think of T.I.'s latest message? Let us know in the comments!

NEW YORK — At 7:30 p.m. on the nose, the house lights went down, the girls went crazy, and Z100's Jingle Ball 2010 got the party started Friday (December 10) for a rousing night of music and fun at Madison Square Garden.

Kim Kardashian, in a white body-hugging dress, kicked off the night's festivities by noting that it was her first time ever at MSG, then bringing Taio Cruz to the stage. He played "Break Your Heart" and "Dynamite," and for his track "Higher," he was joined by Travie McCoy, though the song usually features British pop princess Kylie Minogue.

Jesse McCartney was on hand to proudly invite Bruno Mars to the stage. The Grammy nominee played drums for an excited crowd.

He played "Billionaire," and the entire room sang along as McCoy joined him for their ode to getting famous. The crowd ate it up. He then slowed it down with "Grenade." The set ended with "Just the Way You Are" to the delight of the crowd.

Jay Sean beat-boxed, then helped introduce Paramore to the stage. The band brought some loud, boombastic rock to the show thanks to a set that included "Brick by Boring Brick."

"Anybody else care to join the party tonight?" frontwoman Hayley Williams asked the crowd before blaring out "Misery" and inviting a fan onstage to sing with her. They finished it off with "The Only Exception."

B.o.B was next to the stage. The rapper got real with his track "Don't Let Me Fall." Then the crowd went insane for "Magic." As if that didn't get the girls hyped enough, Bruno Mars returned for "Beautiful Girls."

"Everybody put your hands up," B.o.B told the crowd before playing his massive "Airplanes" with Williams by his side.

The crowd went nuts when Flo Rida introduced Selena Gomez for her dance-tastic performance of "Round and Round." Gomez looked like a true disco queen in her little black dress and heels.

She thanked Katy Perry for her next track, "Rock God," then got trancey for her song "A Year Without Rain," and ended her set with "Naturally," crediting it as the reason she got a spot on the radio tour.

The show took an adult contemporary and old school turn when Michael Buble arrived to croon tunes such as "Hollywood" and "Haven't Met You Yet," and for "Let it Snow," he got in the crowd and paid homage to the season, dusting MSG with snow confetti.

Katy Perry brought the girl power in her performance, which featured ballerinas, Christmas trees, Santa Clauses and Perry popping out of a gift box in a latex toy soldier costume for "Hot n Cold."

"This is Madison Square Garden!" she shouted to the crowd. "This is something I've dreamt about for a long time."

"This next song is about falling in love with a foreigner, like far away ... Not even in England," she said to introduce "E.T."

After a jazzy version of "I Kissed a Girl," she proudly proclaimed, "Let's dedicate this West Coast anthem to the East Coast right now," ending her performance with "California Gurls" as red and green confetti fell from the ceiling.

Pauly D prompted the loudest screams of the night when he introduced Enrique Iglesias. The Latin pop star played the clean version of "Tonight," followed by older jams such as "Escape" and "Hero," serenading a girl from the audience.

With the swooning complete, Iglesias ended with fan favorite "I Like It."

Kardashian returned, telling the crowd, "I think I'm catching a fever," before the night's most-anticipated performance: Justin Bieber.

In a plaid top and khakis, the teen star got his party started with "Somebody to Love." Bieber was in full swagga mode, dancing like a seasoned pro and getting the crowd hyped.

"The last time I was here for Jingle Ball, I had a broken foot, and this year, I'm here and both my limbs are working," he joked. "We shot a movie here, and it's coming out in February, and I think we should show you a preview."

The trailer transitioned to "Never Say Never." Bieber even brought out a surprise guest, Jayden Smith, to join him.

"I had someone who's really special to me, and I decided to bring him out," he then announced, calling for Sean Kingston for "Eenie Meenie." The girls went crazy as the pals went back and forth on the cut.

"I think I want to slow it down a little bit. My acoustic album had an extra song on it that's really important to me. But first, I need everyone to close their eyes and 'Pray,' " he said before the inspirational ballad.

He then teased the excited crowd, saying, "I think we should do one more song," and listing some of his track names.

He settled on "Baby." "Who wants to be my baby?" he asked. He ended the night with showers of fireworks and confetti, saying, "You guys are amazing."
